And a Month Later…

The holidays are over for another year, and I’ve finally crawled out of my winter stuper and started getting my shit together again.

There’s plenty to report, so I’ve decided to put together a little list. I may expand some of it laster, or I may not.

1. AA- I’ve got over 60 days, believe it or not. I actually kept myself sober during the holidays, despite the fact that my and Tom’s families consumed mass quantities of various alcohols. Non-alcoholic beer, wine and champagne helped. So did witnessing certain actions taken by drunken people. Heh.

2. Job search - I’ve had a grand round of interviews. Law firms, temp agencies and more have gotten the chance to ask me what splendor I could bring me to their organization. The good news: I got a call today from one of the organizations. They’re calling my references and if all goes well, I’ll be offered the job! I’m keeping my fingers, toes, and all other extremities crossed. Otherwise, I may have to resort to selling my body because I’m almost out of money.

3. Social life - Getting together with the whole family over the holidays was … interesting to say the least. Actually, it deserves an entry all its own. It wasn’t easy, but I made it through. The weekend I got home, Emily came to San Francisco for the first time since I moved here. We had a lot of fun together. We did touristy things, like check out Lombard street, drive up Twin Peaks, wandered Golden Gate park. She and I stayed up late chatting. She showed her manliness by smashing a huge cockroach that threatened to eat my leg. I tried to entertain her with my sparkly wit. In spite of that, she said she’d like to come back soon, with Arnaud. Also - two of my best friends from UMass are coming to visit in the beginning of February. I haven’t seen them since I left Massachusetts and I can’t wait .

4. Girlfriend - I suppose this should have a question mark after it. C. and I have gotten together a handful of times now, and sent numerous emails in between. Every time I hang out with her I find myself laughing and opening up. I’ve told her things I rarely share with anyone. Luckily, this has not sent her screaming into the night, at least so far. I want to take things farther… but without the nice little alcohol lube I end up sitting on my hands like a blushing virgin. Which I am not, by any stretch of the imagination. I could use a swift boot to the ass to get me moving. Until then, I’m making a good friend. Which is nothing to sneeze at, so to speak.

5. Boyfriend - Things with Tom continue to go along swimmingly, over all. We had a few minor skirmishes over the break, but that’s common what with the family stress. And he seems to be dealing well with the open-relationship, at least as far as I’ve taken it. Also - he has not yet killed me for my recent obsession with Legolas, which is a good thing.

6. Writing - I’ve been overrun by a recent fanfiction plot bunny. I’ve been staying awake ’til all hours and typing away madly. I’m actually pleased with what I’ve written so far. Even though I won’t ever get it published, it’s been good practice for me. I’m having a lot of fun writing it. Stretch that imagination.

Well, that’s all the news that’s fit to print. Stay tuned for the next exciting update in the life of me.
